Any use of radiation producing device has to be registered with the state and a signed approval from the regulating board. The application process typically involves a set of administrative paperwork and technical paperwork from the physicist. The technical paperwork will include the shielding calculations, building design, and the use factors associated with different sections of the department, which includes the controlled and non-controlled areas.
The process is relatively simple, however, the paperwork necessary for obtaining the license are absolutely necessary. This process, depending on the state could take anywhere from a few weeks to months before the review is complete. Since the process is relatively slow, there needs to be a complete application which will ensure that the registration is approved by the state in a timely fashion. We have extensive experience in submitting varieties of application to the state for obtaining licensure for LINACs, CT, PET/CT, HDR, etc., thus ensuring a timely approval from the state.
